New Clinical Study: Hinge Health Enso wearable demonstrates significant improvements in both mobility and pain reduction

University of California San Francisco and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center researchers publish randomized controlled study demonstrating Hinge Health Enso delivers 2x greater pain reduction and 3x improved mobility compared to control

SAN FRANCISCO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — A new randomized controlled clinical study finds that Hinge Health’s Enso delivers 2x more pain reduction and improves mobility 3x compared to a control device. Researchers from the University of California San Francisco and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center published the study in the Journal of Pain Research. Enso, an FDA-cleared device, is a wearable, nonaddictive, high-frequency impulse therapy technology for better pain management and functional mobility. The findings are a significant milestone as patients increasingly look for pain management alternatives. While there are decades of research on short-term pain reduction from lower-frequency devices, this is the first study demonstrating durable pain relief and improved functional mobility with a high-frequency impulse therapy device over a four-week time frame.

Hinge Health Enso is one of the most advanced wearable technologies for electrical nerve stimulation. Key findings from the four-week randomized controlled study include the following:

  • Enso participants decreased pain more than twice as much compared to the control group (-54.7% Enso vs. -25.3% control, p ≤ 0.05).
  • Enso participants had 2.5x more improvement in walking speed, as measured by the Six-Minute Walk Test (30.1% Enso vs. 12.3% control, p ≤ 0.05).
  • Enso participants improved mobility 3.4x, as measured by the Timed Up and Go Test (65.9% Enso vs. 19.4% control, p ≤ 0.05).

“Musculoskeletal pain is extremely common, with one in two Americans experiencing chronic back or joint pain in any given year. This study further validates the efficacy of Enso. Enso has already helped thousands by improving functional mobility and quickly delivering noninvasive, nonaddictive, lasting pain relief via an easy-to-use wearable,” said Dr. Jeffrey Krauss, Hinge Health’s chief medical officer.

A randomized controlled trial of the high-frequency impulse therapy device versus a control sham device was conducted with thirty-six patients seeking care for chronic low back pain from five orthopedic and pain center sites in California, USA. The clinical study was sponsored by Hinge Health.

Dodge Momentum Index jumps in October

Index near 14-year high as numerous large projects enter planning

HAMILTON, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — The Dodge Momentum Index increased 10% in October to 181.2 (2000=100), from the revised September reading of 164.6. The Momentum Index, issued by Dodge Construction Network, is a monthly measure of the initial report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year. In October, commercial planning rose 14% and institutional gained 3%.

The value of nonresidential building projects entering planning has staged a solid recovery this fall. It has lifted the Momentum Index to its highest level in nearly 14 years, following a near-moribund summer of activity. The commercial sector has shown strength, having reached its highest level since the inception of the Index. The October gain in the Momentum Index was driven by increased planning in warehouses, offices, and healthcare structures. Compared to a year earlier, the Momentum Index was 47% higher in October 2021. The commercial planning component was 59% higher, and institutional was 26% higher.

A total of 20 projects with a value of $100 million or more entered planning in October. The leading commercial projects were a $450 million Walmart Distribution Center in Lyman, SC, and a $400 million Facebook data center in Los Lunas, NM. The leading institutional projects were the second and third phases of the California Northstate University Medical Center in Sacramento, valued at $500 million for each phase.

The dollar value of projects in the planning stage is impressive and portends a healthy rise in nonresidential building construction starts on tap for 2022. However, that expectation must be balanced against rising material costs, shortages of key goods, and a lack of skilled labor that will work to keep growth rates modest next year.

Redline Detection unveils EV Battery + Coolant Leak Detector

Launch of Redline EV Technology Center

LAS VEGAS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — #EVRedline Detection, the world’s leader in diagnostic leak detection technology, announced today a new division of the company that has engineered diagnostic leak detection technology exclusively for battery electric vehicles.

Speaking at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Redline Detection CMO Alex Parker announced that a major global OEM has made the new Battery + Coolant Leak Detector an essential tool for electric vehicle diagnostics at all dealer locations in 160 countries.

“The wide adoption of electric vehicles hinges upon safety and reliability. Redline has partnered with leading EV automakers to develop technology that gives 100% assurance that battery cases and battery coolant systems are sealed under precise pressures and meet all OEM and battery manufacturer warranty standards for safety,” said Parker.

The Battery + Coolant Leak Detector (BCLD) was designed to test the integrity of battery enclosures in electric and hybrid vehicles. Durable and compact, BCLD connects to the battery enclosure on or off the vehicle, giving audible and visual progress and precise pass/fail indication—specific to that battery and vehicle type—when testing is complete. Data logging and reports can be accessed remotely and the machine is programmable for future battery configurations.

Testing the integrity of battery enclosures is necessary to ensure that there is no possible intrusion of water, dust, or contaminants that could cause catastrophic failure. Battery enclosures are tested after any collision, even a scrape to the bottom of the battery box over a curb that could compromise the seal, as well as after lid off battery maintenance or service. BCLD gives OEMs and aftermarket service locations the ability to do lid off maintenance and repairs, and restore the integrity of battery and battery coolant enclosures to original factory design specifications.

Redline has also opened a dedicated EV Technology Center in Orange, CA for ongoing battery testing, research, and technician education. The space can be used for both in-person and virtual technical demonstrations.

“The future of automotive technology is evolving quickly and Redline technology is at the forefront of these exciting changes, supporting the engineers and technicians who use our technology to ensure peak performance. Redline is the trusted world’s leader across traditionally aspirated, boosted, and now electric vehicle diagnostic leak detection technology,” said Parker.

About Redline Detection

Redline Detection, headquartered in Orange, Calif., develops and manufactures the world’s best-selling diagnostic leak detection equipment. From the world’s leading OEMs to individual technicians, Redline Detection has built a global fan base for its professional grade custom diagnostic solutions, as well as its ability to increase the bottom line. In 2020, Redline Detection was awarded the prestigious title of SEMA Manufacturer of the Year. FORT LEE, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Cross River Bank (“Cross River”), a technology-driven financial services organization that provides core infrastructure and embedded financial solutions, today announced, as part of its Making Waves with Cross River program, expanded partnerships with both Operation HOPE and The Memorial Foundation in order to bring access to financial resources and increased economic inclusion to communities across the country.

“Our partners at Operation HOPE and The Memorial Foundation have dedicated themselves to empowering individuals and communities to deliver a more inclusive future for all,” said Gilles Gade, Founder, President, and CEO of Cross River. “For Cross River, giving back comes first, and we are grateful for the opportunity to double down on our commitment.”

Cross River and Operation HOPE have been partners for more than five years, and now, the two will expand their community-based approach to financial wellness, specifically through HOPE Inside, an award-winning model of community uplift at another location. HOPE Inside brings coaches to bank branches, providing in-person and virtual financial coaching, educational content, and solutions through financial dignity programming to empower individuals with the financial knowledge and tools they need.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Cross River and Operation HOPE partnered to provide resources to individuals and community partners, which included virtual financial literacy courses, small business development workshops, and the joint Entrepreneur Training Program (“ETP”), from which over 100 entrepreneurs have already graduated. Having seen the success of these programs in its Brooklyn, New York branch footprint, Cross River and Operation HOPE are now expanding these programs to Cross River’s Teaneck, New Jersey branch to deliver these life-changing services to more individuals to help them solve every day financial challenges and create a more secure future.

Cross River also announced an expanded partnership with The Memorial Foundation to support the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Social Justice Fellowship Program, which unites like-minded emerging leaders from across the nation who share an unwavering commitment to social justice and who have embraced opportunities to advance change through leadership. Fellows possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on improving the conditions of underserved communities and are empowered to build an intentional coalition of support with leaders across the nation, explore high impact practices that impart change, and develop an understanding of leadership and advocacy for long-term, sustainable community advancement. Last Wednesday, the Foundation hosted its anniversary gala in Washington titled “Moving the Dream Forward …Forever a Stone of Hope,” celebrating the foundation’s inaugural class of social justice fellows.

“As we celebrate our 10th anniversary and the work of Martin Luther King, we are also celebrating the foundation’s inaugural class of social justice fellows, our leaders of the future,” said Harry Johnson Sr., President and CEO of The Memorial Foundation. “Dr. King represented justice, opportunity, and most importantly, change, and we are immensely grateful to our community partners like Cross River for their unwavering support in continuing his mission.”
