COVID-19 accelerates omnichannel shopping trend

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the trend towards omnichannel shopping, with consumers utilizing multiple channels and devices before making a purchase decision.

Businesses must understand the importance of creating a seamless and personalized experience that respects the consumers’ buying cycle with the help of technology or they may lose big on their revenue.

With the integration of omnichannel strategies, e-commerce businesses are now expected to account for 22.3% of all retail sales, with online retail sales projected to reach $6.51 trillion in 2023.

“Omnichannel is more than just multiple purchasing options. It’s a personalized journey that respects the consumer’s buying cycle and immerses them in a tailored experience through harmonious channels,” says Mikel Lindsaar, CEO and Founder of StoreConnect.

To succeed in an omnichannel world, businesses need a customer-centric focus.

Technology should reduce complexity and allow businesses to build an immersive unified experience for their customers. They need to choose an e-commerce platform that connects workflows, integrates with third-party solutions, and offers automation tools to scale faster across channels. The technology should incorporate:

  • One-click channel integration – One-click channel integration eliminates technical barriers to selling on popular platforms and helps in focusing on growing that channel rather than the development work behind it.
  • Cross-channel automation – Cross-channel automation helps in automating workflows to save time and reduce the manual work necessary to manage multiple channels.
  • Multi-channel payment gateways and POS – A robust POS system is needed to connect pop-up or brick-and-mortar sales with online sales through a centralized reporting hub.

For e-commerce businesses, it’s crucial to assess various channels and integrate them effectively into their ecosystem. Failure to do so can result in missed opportunities for growth, reduced customer satisfaction, and ultimately, decreased revenue. By carefully evaluating and optimizing their channels, businesses can ensure they are reaching their target audience and providing a seamless customer experience across all touchpoints.

Mikel Lindsaar, CEO and Founder of StoreConnect can speak on the following:

  1. What specific benefits can businesses expect to gain from the seamless integration, in terms of time savings and increased data accuracy?
  2. Are there any limitations or considerations that businesses should be aware of when integrating their existing systems with your e-commerce platform?
  3. What level of technical expertise is required for businesses to implement and manage the integration with the leading payment gateways, ERP platforms, and other software packages?
  4. Any examples or case studies of businesses that have successfully implemented the integration and experienced significant improvements in their operations?
  5. What are the leading payment gateways and ERP platforms that your ecommerce platform seamlessly integrates with?

Isla Mujeres animal shelter moving to the mainland: Help needed to rebuild critical Rescue Operation

BOULDER, Colo. ― Since 2001, Isla Animals Rescue has worked tirelessly to rescue and sterilize street dogs and cats on the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, offering vital free and reduced cost services to a community that desperately needs them.

“Isla Animals is the REAL thing,” said founder Alison Sawyer.

“Nobody’s being paid for administration; no one’s going to lunch or staying in five-star hotels. All the money goes to the animals. No one is making any kind of profit.”

But in April, the brave efforts of Isla Animals Rescue were upended by the government of Isla Mujeres, which reclaimed the space inhabited by Isla Animals, leaving the rescue organization homeless like the abandoned animals they work so diligently to protect.

In spite of the unthinkable setback, Sawyer and the organization’s director, Trina Noakes, remained steadfast in their commitment to taking animals off the streets.

“Twenty-two years and tens of thousands of dogs and cats saved — passion, sweat and tears — all of that will not be thrown away at the whim of an ungrateful government that doesn’t appreciate how we have taken care of theirproblem,” said Sawyer, who still buys her clothes at the Salvation Army so she can put everything she has into helping the animals.

After taking a step back to rethink and regroup, the organization decided that moving to the mainland, Cancun, will offer them the best chance of building an optimal shelter — that they will own independently — and that will have an impact where it is needed most. The new shelter will meet international standards for water, sewage, electricity — and they’re going to try to get solar power as well.

“The need on the mainland is much greater than on Isla, with extreme cases of abandonment and abuse and a much higher number of street animals,” said Noakes. “Not only will IA have something that no one can take away from the animals, but we will also have outdoor space, a place for on-site surgeries, isolation areas and a lot more!”

But the move comes at an immense cost that Isla Animals can’t tackle alone.

“Since we didn’t plan to go through all of this, we are struggling financially,” Noakes added.

“Building is expensive, and we know we can use your money better building on the mainland.”

Isla Animals is in critical need of the public’s help. They have launched a Go Fund Me campaign(https://gofund.me/7fe42686) to raise money for the new shelter. More information can be found (and donations can also be made) at https://www.islaanimals.org/.

MOU finalizes $305 million allocation of federal funds for New Jersey’s Affordable Housing Production Fund

TRENTON, N.J. -– The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to finalize federal American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding for the State’s Affordable Housing Production Fund (AHPF) on June 20.
The MOU between NJHMFA and the Department of Community Affairs finalizes the $305 million allocated in the Fiscal Year 2023 budget towards the AHPF, aiding in the development of thousands of new affordable housing units in New Jersey.
The AHPF, which is administered by NJHMFA, was established by Governor Murphy in his Fiscal Year 2023 budget with the goal of building over 3,300 new affordable housing units across approximately 43 developments statewide. The AHPF was designed to allow for the full completion of all 100 percent affordable housing projects identified in municipal housing settlements that have yet to be built, eliminating the state’s backlog of these projects by the end of the Governor’s second term.

“In launching the Affordable Housing Production Fund last year, we took an urgent approach to addressing the affordable housing needs in our state,” said Governor Murphy.

“No family should ever have to experience the stress of finding an affordable place to call home. In building the Next New Jersey, this Administration remains committed to making affordable housing accessible to the individuals and families who call this great state home.”

“Governor Murphy’s full funding of 3,300 housing units through the Affordable Housing Production Fund is a huge step forward towards meeting the extreme need for quality, affordable housing in New Jersey,” said Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver who serves as the Commissioner of the NJ Department of Community Affairs.

Since the launch of the AHPF, NJHMFA has already dedicated $202 million to support the construction of 3,020 new affordable housing units. The remainder of the funds will create close to another 1,000 new units.

“The Affordable Housing Production Fund is a key component of New Jersey’s comprehensive strategy to address housing access and affordability,” said Melanie R. Walter, Executive Director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency.

“As of June 2023, we have committed two-thirds of the entire allocation amount, and we expect to allocate the remainder by the end of the upcoming fiscal year. With this MOU, we can begin expending the funds immediately. The Production Fund is helping New Jersey communities realize their affordable housing goals at an unprecedented rate, ensuring its impact will be felt for decades to come.”

The MOU approval allows for distribution of funds to begin immediately.

About Us: The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) advances the quality of life for residents of and communities throughout New Jersey by investing in, financing, and facilitating access to affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income families, older adults, and individuals with specialized housing needs. Next evolution of wearables: Med-tech expert brings 1st medical-grade smart ring to market

After spending over 30 years in the medical device industry, John Mastrototaro has set out to change what consumers expect from their wearables.

Consumers are looking for more than just an activity or sleep tracker, they are looking for a more accurate wearable that gives them a holistic view of their health.

Tapping into his experiences at Medtronic and MiniMed where he was instrumental in introducing the ambulatory continuous glucose monitoring system and the sensor augmented insulin pump, Mastrototaro has flipped the script on traditional wearables, building Movano Health as a medical device company rather than a consumer wellness or fitness device company, to give consumers and medical professionals the data they need and want.

The Evie Ring, available this September, is a medical-grade health smart ring measures a comprehensive set of health metrics including heart rate, heart rate variability, SPO2, respiration rate, temperature, steps, activity, calories, sleep, menstrual cycle, and more. The Evie Ring has also met FDA benchmarks for HR & SpO2 accuracy and is preparing to file for FDA clearance.

Beyond pursuing FDA clearance, Movano Health is focusing the Evie Ring on those who have been underserved in the wearables market: women. From bulky designs, to inaccuracies, to unintuitive and unhelpful data, current wearables don’t give women what they are looking for, especially as they enter menopause.

Seventy percent of consumers consider themselves adventurous eaters and seek a greater variety of flavors from their favorite restaurants and brands.1 Inspired by these fan desires, the HEINZ Sauce Drops are designed to deliver on people’s hunger for uniqueness, as each provides an elevated flavor dipping experience unlike anything HEINZ has ever created.

The HEINZ Limited-Time Sauce flavors include:

Each limited-time sauce is crafted for a variety of dipping occasions, pairing especially well with the crispy, savory taste of fried chicken. Kicking off today with the “Rebecca Black Garlic Ranch” drop, the sauces will be available at famous American chicken joints, including Parson’s Chicken & Fish locations in Chicago, Sticky’s Finger Joint locations in New York and New Jersey, and Abner’s Famous Chicken locations in Tennessee and Mississippi. Every month, HEINZ and one of the stars will take to social media to announce which of the six sauces will be dropping next.

Google updates focus on the role of CRO in achieving impressive ROI

Google continuously modifies its algorithms to provide searchers with the most relevant content. In March 2023, Google rolled out its Core Update, which is one of the most significant updates in recent years. It continually adjusts its search engine ranking system and user interface, averaging 12 changes per day, keeping digital marketers on their toes.

This algorithm update by Google focuses on user experience and penalizes inadequate websites, meaning websites with low-quality duplicated, and irrelevant content, poor user experience, and slow navigation will have lower rankings. Moreover, with the increasing use of mobile devices for internet browsing, the update has strongly emphasized mobile optimization, resulting in penalization for websites that are not mobile-friendly. Experts say Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) is a powerful strategy that not only supports but also amplifies all marketing efforts.

“Marketing opportunities live in Conversion Rate Optimization more than uncasing an algorithm. Companies should constantly be working to improve the customer experience; this will never change, no matter what Google does. Digital marketing strategies that focus on the fundamentals of driving website traffic, improving conversion rate optimization, and delivering an outstanding customer experience will see steady market gains regardless of what changes Google makes to their algorithm,” says Derek Chew, CEO of Fullmoon Digital Marketing.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) is about employing strategies that steadily and systematically boost customer engagement with a website, such as clicking a banner ad, filling out a form, or subscribing to a newsletter, to increase the likelihood of repeat visits or business.

It helps businesses analyze and segment their users to direct them toward purchasing the products or services that would best cater to their requirements. This leads to an increase in repeat customers and a greater overall value per customer across the entire product experience.

While about 67% of companies globally don’t have a properly structured CRO strategy, it is important to note that businesses implementing CRO get an average ROI of 223%.

“In the wake of Google’s core updates, which prioritize user experience and relevance in search results, CRO has become even more important for digital marketing strategies. By improving the user experience and increasing conversions, businesses can improve their search engine rankings and increase their revenue and ROI,” notes Chew.

Mercer County ADRC opens applications for senior farmers’ market nutrition program

Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes announced that starting June 1, the Mercer County Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) will accept applications for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

This program provides funding for the purchase of fresh, nutritious, unprepared foods like fruits, vegetables and herbs to low-income older adults.

“With foods provided from authorized farmers, the program not only helps increase the nutritional health of our communities, but also increases the demand for locally grown produce and boosts the income of farmers who produce and sell locally grown products,” Mr. Hughes said.

To qualify for this program, you must be able to verify that:

• You are 60 years of age or older
• You live in Mercer County
• Your income does not exceed $26,973 per year ($2,248 a month) if you are a single person or $36,482 per year ($3,041 a month) if you are a couple

Those eligible will receive $50 to spend for use at participating vendors at area farmers markets. Instead of paper vouchers that were distributed in previous years, older adults will now be assigned a QR code that will be easily accessible from their smartphones. Simply show the code (on a digital device or printed on paper from the Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection) to the farm market vendor, who will scan it – that’s how easy the new QR codes are to use.

Funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. When you receive your QR code, you also will get a listing of participating markets and vendors. If you are taking a trip to a market, make sure to call ahead, as market days may change due to weather and produce availability.

If you, a family member or friend could benefit from this program, please call the Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection at 609-989-6661. For more information, or to apply, you may also email adrc@mercercounty.org, or kturek@mercercounty.org.

The Mercer County Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) is the federally designated agency responsible for the assessment, development, and funding distribution of programs/services for those 60 years of age or older in Mercer County.
