Align voted Best Cloud Services Provider by both Hedgeweek and Private Equity Wire

NEW YORK — (BUSINESS WIRE) — #alternativeinvestment — Align, the premier global provider of technology infrastructure solutions and Managed IT Services, announces today that it has been awarded Best Cloud Services Provider in the 2023 Hedgeweek’s Hedge Fund Emerging Manager US Awards and the Private Equity Wire’s 2023 Emerging Manager Awards.

Both awards are earned from online voting in which financial services professionals are invited to nominate the “best in class” providers in a variety of categories.

As a managed service provider, offering top-of-the-line cloud services is imperative – especially today, when businesses rely so heavily on cloud-based applications. The Align IT Suite, Align’s complete Managed Services platform, is built on the foundation of the Microsoft public cloud, offering flexible, secure, compliant managed services for clients, particularly those in the alternative investment industry.

“We are honored to be recognized by both Hedgeweek and Private Equity Wire,” says Vinod Paul, Chief Operating Officer of Align Managed Services.

“The past several years has put an emphasis on service providers as we’ve all had to rise to the challenge of adjusting to meet the new set of needs and security risks introduced by the major shift in the workforce. We were proactive in this adjustment; and built our cornerstone managed IT offering, the Align IT Suite, in the Microsoft public cloud to provide clients with scalable, flexible IT solutions. It is always appreciated to be recognized for our commitment to providing the best-in-class solutions to our clients, even more so to be recognized for our outstanding performance as a cloud provider in two separate awards within the same year. We are very proud of this achievement.”

This double recognition only further cements Align’s reputation in the industry. Align was the first Managed Services Provider to offer a fully Public Cloud based platform focused on the Alternative Financial Services industry. As a Tier 1 Microsoft Azure cloud services provider focused entirely on the alternative investment industry, Align enhanced this offering by also delivering cybersecurity solutions designed for the Registered Investment Advisors and ALT’s community. Align spearheaded the adoption of public cloud computing as the optimal foundation from which a modern fund manager’s IT environment should be designed. Leading firms around the world trust Align with their managed IT.

Align’s clients are primarily within the financial services industry, and the largest technological challenges they face surround the regulatory requirements and the changing cybersecurity threat landscape. These changes both in the financial sector and throughout businesses have created an entirely new set of consideration for clients; from annual proposed SEC changes in regulations to the shift in the workforce from largely in-person to more hybrid or remote work.

“Our award-winning solution makes managing IT and meeting the demands of security and compliance easy,” says Vinod Paul, Chief Operating Officer of Align. “Our services offer firms the assurance, dependability, and resiliency that is required to thrive in today’s changing IT landscape. With Align Managed Services, clients can leverage solutions designed to reduce operational costs, accelerate workflows, mitigate risk, and strengthen and streamline the numerous controls designed to meet both the current and ever-evolving regulatory compliance requirements and the prevailing due diligence expectations.”

Align’s unwavering commitment to improving our Managed IT Solutions directly impacts the success of its clients – because once a firm can meet certain regulations with ease, its business begins to thrive.

“Alongside our double recognition in cloud computing, we have taken strides to enhance our longstanding Managed Detection and Response (MDR) platform, Align Guardian, powered by Adlumin, within the last year. We have also begun to leverage AI support services and launched an “out of the box” onboarding experience through automation and AI that allows our clients to fully deploy its solution in 30 minutes,” says Chris Zadrima, Managing Director, Align Managed Services.

“From fundamental support functions to Cybersecurity, we have incorporated automated SOAR (Security Orchestration, automation, and response) functionality. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments our teams have made—this award demonstrates our commitment to continuously striving to enhance our offering.”

Vilnius invites foodies to Pink Soup Fest amid its gastro ecosystem’s significant ranking in La Liste

The gastro scene in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is peaking—two of its fine dining restaurants, Džiaugsmas and Nineteen18, have been named among the top restaurants in the world in 2023 by the prestigious La Liste guide. The selected restaurants are the first ones in Lithuania and two of five restaurants in the Baltic countries to make the list.

La Liste ranking lists the world’s best restaurants based on trusted reviews of the restaurants in local guidebooks and publications and customer ratings. The best-voted Vilnius’ restaurants reflect Lithuanian chefs’ respect for seasonal ingredients and passion for reimagining old recipes to delight modern tastes.

Nineteen18 and Džiaugsmas that have made the list blend haute cuisine with traditional recipes stemming from the country’s farmland roots. Besides the fine dining, Vilnius is also all over celebrating the national gastro heritage, which is why the capital is hosting Pink Soup Fest, a festival for the iconic cold beetroot soup, on June 10th.

Džiaugsmas, set up in the heart of the city, offers flavor-bursting treats from fresh, organic, and locally grown produce. Martynas Praškevičius, one of the country’s top-ranking chefs, is committed to adapting the menu to best highlight seasonal Lithuanian delicacies.

Nineteen18, an intimate restaurant nestled in the historical food court Senators’ Passage, celebrates local gastro heritage with an innovative tasting menu. The ingredients that come from farms nearby into the hands of a seasoned chef Andrius Kubilius are put in the spotlight through preservation techniques like fermentation and pickling—one of the key food trends this year.

The two fine dining restaurants in Vilnius that have been included in the prestigious La Liste ranking, lists the top 1000 restaurants around the world. This recognition further establishes Vilnius as the foodies’ hub that hides unique gastro experiences.

Celebrating national gastro pride

Just recently, Vilnius’ thriving gastro ecosystem that fuses multicultural flavors with beloved Lithuanian tastes has been given an honorary gift for all of its achievements—three real stars in the constellation Fornax. At the same time, Vilnius offers its residents and visitors the chance to explore historical cuisine recreated specifically for its 700th anniversary year. Several of the capital’s restaurants invite the foodies on a journey to Vilnius’ past, enticing them with dishes like bread soup or Jerusalem kugel and the stories surrounding them.

On June 10th when Vilnius celebrates one of its most iconic dishes of Lithuanian cuisine—cold beetroot soup,  Pink Soup Fest will tease the festivalgoers with multiple variations of the brightly-colored dish.  They will urge everyone to partake in an activity as wild as the dish itself—dress up like soup’s ingredients and slide down the Bastion hill straight into an artificial bowl.

There are many variations of the recipe—with yogurt, quail eggs, or sparkling mineral water. However, the one that packs a punch follows a fail-safe classic recipe: marinated beetroots, grated cucumbers, hard-boiled eggs, diced dills and spring onions, kefir, and a dash of salt are combined together in a bowl. Best served cold with a side of hot potatoes.

Frustrating and potentially dangerous spam calls continue to plague consumers around the world as businesses and regulators work to address the problem

Internet Day 2023 session with iconectiv’s Alberto Apablaza addressed ways to fight spammers and boost consumer trust in the communications ecosystem

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — iconectiv:

What:

Phone spam continues to plague consumers around the world, eroding their trust in the communications ecosystem. In fact, consumers globally were inundated with more than 655 million spam calls in the last few months of 2022 alone, many of those calls coming from fraudsters. The problem is so prevalent that 95% of people only answer a call when they recognize the number.

The issue is worse in Argentina, where 52% of calls from unknown numbers are spam and 22% of calls are fraudulent. This also makes it difficult for businesses and call centers to get their legitimate calls through to consumers.

During an Internet Day 2023 panel discussion, iconectiv’s Alberto Apablaza discussed ways the trusted communications ecosystem can address spam calls and other issues, including:

  • The state of fixed and mobile number porting
  • Streamlining processes around emergency numbers
  • Network security

Who:

Industry leaders for this panel session included:

  • Alberto Apablaza, Account Director, LATAM at iconectiv
  • Nacho Ribeiro, IP Telephone Commission Coordinator
  • Jeff Pulver, founder of Vonage and pioneer in the field of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

Where:

You can watch a replay of the Internet Day 2023 session here.

Chris Rivers: Satellite now opens at Friedrichs Pontone in NYC

Friedrichs Pontone art gallery in New York City is thrilled to present Satellite, a solo exhibition of works by British artist Chris Rivers, featuring a mesmerizing selection of his otherworldly, stellar skyscapes. The display opens May 18 until June 18.
Rivers’ large-scale paintings are inspired by the natural world and his fascination with the cosmos. His works capture the beauty and majesty of the sky, from the swirling clouds to the shimmering stars. These paintings are not simply depictions of the natural world, but rather a reflection of Rivers’ own emotional response to it. Rendered in a sumptuous palette of rich color and a welter of expressive, gestural handling that is at once abstract and representational, Rivers conveys the awe-inspiring power of nature and the limitless potential of the universe.

Born in 1983 in Manchester, England, Chris Rivers began his artistic journey in 2014. As a self-taught painter, Rivers brings a fresh perspective to the art world. Formerly a professional drummer for UK rock band Heaven’s Basement, his work is rooted in his background as a musician, which he infuses into his art through the use of rhythm and movement, treating the canvas as a drum. Every painting maintains an energetic, almost frenzied tempo, tempered by subtle manipulations of technique and pace that captivate and enchant the viewer with their strange and beautiful ambience.

His works are a testament to his dedication to exploring and exploiting the pictorial possibilities generated by the physicality of his painting process. Rivers creates sumptuous, surrealistic, fantastical scenes of otherworldly, stellar landscapes with saturated washes of vibrant color that develop into lowering skyscapes, clots, and accretions of impasto that turn into mountain ranges, scattered and scumbled paint fields tha become the detritus of volcanic explosions, and swirling billows of translucent medium that suggest protean
clouds of gas. The contrast of light and dark elements presents a dichotomy that invites the viewer to explore the interplay between opposing forces, evoking at once a sense of innocence and treachery, harmony and dissonance, serenity and turbulence, order and chaos.
He carefully inserts small figures, often astronauts and cherubs, into his galactic turmoil to establish a sense of innocence and isolation, struggle and survival. Indistinguishable at first glance, the figures are subsumed in fiery, elemental vortices of turbulent paint, carried through time and space, desperate voyagers in an alien world. They exist on the edge of the sublime, in awe of the terrifying universe surrounding them. Rivers seems keen to emphasize human vulnerability and at the same time hail the pioneering spirit, inviting the viewer on a fantastic voyage, in anticipation of being lost and found in space.

Through his alchemical and self-described “alternative” process, Rivers transforms mundane material into visionary images. Satellite showcases Rivers’ mastery of the language of painterly abstraction to create pictures of notional and imaginary places and is a testament to Rivers’ artistry and passion for exploring the beauty and wonder of the cosmos, the complexities and contradictions of the human experience, and the
infinite possibilities of the universe.

The 2nd Annual Parade in New York City celebrates the friendship between New York and Japan

Building on the great success of last year’s inaugural Japan Parade, the 2nd annual Japan Parade in New York City was on Saturday, May 13, and began at 1 p.m.

Starting on Central Park West at West 81st Street and traveling south to West 67th Street, the purpose of the parade was to celebrate, express, and bring awareness to the friendship between NYC and Japan with a thank you from the Japanese community. Olympic Gold Medalist, Founder of Always Dream, and Author Kristi Yamaguchi was the Parade’s Grand Marshal.

This year’s Japan Parade featured a live performance by the cast of The 2.5-Dimensional show from Japan, “Live Spectacle ‘NARUTO’”. NARUTO is one of the most internationally recognized and popular manga series of all time. The franchise has sold over 250 million copies worldwide to date. Written and illustrated by creator Masashi Kishimoto, NARUTO was first published in Shueisha’s magazine Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, where it was serialized and ran for 15 years. More performers will be announced in the coming weeks. The Japan Parade is affiliated with Japan Day @ Central Park, an annual event that has taken place in Central Park since 2007.

Concurrently with the Japan Parade, the Japan Street Fair was to be held on West 72nd Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. The Japan Street Fair is the spiritual successor of Japan Day @ Central Park.

The Japan Street Fair featured tents offering fun and educational cultural activities including calligraphy, water balloon yo-yo fishing, origami, photo opportunities, and a giveaway. In collaboration with JAPAN Fes, one of the largest organizers of Japanese food festivals in the world that hosts over 20 Japanese food fair events a year in New York City, the Street Fair should also feature about 20 tents serving authentic Japanese food. The latest information on Japan’s many tourist destinations was available at several other tents, and as with last year, there will also be a tent where visitors may donate to a charitable cause. The Japan Street Fair is your chance to experience a Japanese festival, or matsuri, unlike any other.

Kristi Yamaguchi served as the parade’s Grand Marshal, and Sandra Endo, news correspondent on KTVV Los Angeles, Fox 11 News, and a feature reporter for Good Day LA,  served as Emcee of the parade.

“I am truly honored to act as Grand Marshal for this year’s Japan Parade,” said Kristi Yamaguchi.

“My Japanese heritage is something I’m proud of and I’m happy to celebrate the goodwill of our relationship with Japan and the engagement and solidarity with the Japanese American community.”

Participating groups included Anime NYC (Anime Convention), COBU (Drum), Harlem Japanese Gospel Choir, International Karate Organization Kyokushinkaikan, The Japanese Folk Dance of NY, Katsura Sunshine (Rakugo Comedian), Midori & Friends (Music Education Group), Soh Daiko (Drum), TATE Hatoryu NY (Sword Fighting),Yosakoi Dance Project 10tecomai, Young People’s Chorus of NYC, and many more.

“The Japan Parade is a huge ‘Arigato!’ from the Japanese community to New York City,” said Honorary Chairman, Ambassador Mikio Mori, the Consul General of Japan in New York.

“It will be the second annual celebration of Japanese culture and the many vibrant connections between Japan and this great city. We plan to outdo the inaugural parade in terms of marchers, contents, and food tents all highlighting the uniqueness of Japan, while also solidifying with Asian communities during AAPI Heritage Month. We hope that these festivities bring the Japanese and all of New York City even closer together, adding to our friendship for generations to come.”

“After the huge success of last year’s inaugural Parade, we are very excited to be back in New York City for our second year, demonstrating the diversity and pride of the Japanese community,” said Japan ParadeExecutive Producer Kumiko Yoshii.

“Last year, we had a crowd of over 20,000 with approximately 2,400 participants, marching down Central Park West. We look forward to building on this success and showcasing more groups from New York and Japan. We especially want to thank our sponsors and supporters, without whom this event would not be possible.”

“The Japan Parade’s utmost goal is to be a foundation to forge new connections, and to be an inspiration to strengthen existing relations between Japan and the United States, as well as between the Japanese American community and the people of New York City,” said Japan Day Chairman of the Board of Directors, Daisuke Ugaeri, who represents the notable Japanese and Japanese American companies that make up the Japan Day Inc. Board of Directors.

“To that end, I am humbled and empowered by the invaluable support of our sponsors, the trust placed in us by our parade participants, and the tireless efforts of our staff and volunteers who all truly believe in the good our event is capable of achieving. It is my greatest hope that all who visit, experience, and immerse themselves in Japan Parade 2023 will not only enjoy themselves to the fullest, but also walk away with a newly cultivated or renewed appreciation of the unique wonder and beauty of Japanese culture.”

The very first Japan Parade and the Japan Street Fair were held in 2022. Actor, author, civil-rights activist, and influencer George Takei was the Grand Marshal for the inaugural parade. The parade’s participants included the cast of “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon” The Super Live, as special guests from Japan, a children’s choir, taiko performers, bon-odori dance and kimono groups, Karate and other martial arts groups, and many more. Activists protesting against attacks targeting Asian citizens and anti-Asian rhetoric also marched in the parade.

The Diamond Sponsors of this year’s Japan Parade (as of 4/5) include ANA (All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd.), Hisamitsu America, Inc., Japan Airlines Co., Ltd., and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited. The Platinum Sponsors (as of 4/5) include ITOCHU International Inc., Marubeni America Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), Mitsui & Co. Quizartinib NDA review for patients with newly diagnosed FLT3-ITD positive AML extended by FDA

TOKYO & BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Daiichi Sankyo (TSE: 4568) today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the review period for the New Drug Application (NDA) of quizartinib in combination with standard cytarabine and anthracycline induction and standard cytarabine consolidation chemotherapy, and as continuation monotherapy following consolidation, for the treatment of adult patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that is FLT3-ITD positive.

The FDA has extended the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) action date by three months to July 24, 2023 to allow additional time to review requested updates to the proposed Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) included in this application. No additional efficacy or safety data has been requested.

We are continuing to work with the FDA to facilitate completion of their review of the quizartinib new drug application in order to bring this important medicine to patients as soon as possible,” said Mark Rutstein, MD, Global Head, Oncology Clinical Development, Daiichi Sankyo. “Quizartinib was shown to improve overall survival when added to standard chemotherapy and continued as monotherapy and has potential to change the standard of care for patients with newly diagnosed FLT3-ITD positive AML.”

The NDA is based on results from the QuANTUM-First trial, which demonstrated that quizartinib combined with standard cytarabine and anthracycline induction and standard cytarabine consolidation chemotherapy, and continued as monotherapy following consolidation, resulted in a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival in adult patients with newly diagnosed FLT3-ITD positive AML compared to chemotherapy alone. The results of QuANTUM-First were presented at the 2022 European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress.1

The safety of quizartinib combined with intensive chemotherapy and as continuation monotherapy in QuANTUM-First was generally manageable with no new safety signals observed. The incidence of grade ≥3 QT prolongation events was low, with uncommon ventricular arrythmia events. Overall, the risk of QT prolongation was manageable with ECG monitoring, quizartinib dose modification and correction/elimination of additional risk factors.

About QuANTUM-First

QuANTUM-First is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled global phase 3 study evaluating quizartinib in combination with standard cytarabine and anthracycline induction and standard cytarabine consolidation chemotherapy, and as continuation monotherapy following consolidation, in adult patients aged 18-75 with newly diagnosed FLT3-ITD positive AML. Patients were randomized 1:1 into two treatment groups to receive quizartinib or placebo combined with anthracycline- and cytarabine-based regimens. Eligible patients, including those who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), continued with quizartinib or placebo for up to 36 cycles.

The primary study endpoint was overall survival. Secondary endpoints include event-free survival, post-induction rates of complete remission (CR) and composite complete remission (CRc), and the percentage of patients who achieve CR or CRc with FLT3-ITD minimal residual disease negativity. Safety and pharmacokinetics, along with exploratory efficacy and biomarker endpoints, also were evaluated. QuANTUM-First enrolled 539 patients at 193 study sites across Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America. For more information, visit ClinicalTrials.gov.

About FLT3-ITD Positive Acute Myeloid Leukemia

More than 474,500 new cases of leukemia were reported globally in 2020 with more than 311,500 deaths.2 AML accounts for 23.1% of total leukemia cases worldwide and is most common in adults.3,4 In the U.S., an estimated 20,380 new cases of AML will be diagnosed in 2023 with the five-year survival rate reported at 30.5%.4,5

A number of gene mutations have been identified in AML, and FLT3 (FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3) mutations are the most common, observed in up to 37% of all newly diagnosed patients.6,7 Approximately 80% of FLT3 mutations in AML are FLT3-ITD (internal tandem duplications), an oncogenic driver mutation that presents with a high leukemic burden.7,6 Patients with FLT3-ITD positive AML tend to have a particularly unfavorable prognosis including increased risk of relapse and shorter overall survival.6 The five-year survival rate for patients with FLT3-ITD positive AML has been reported at approximately 20%.8

The conventional treatment for fit patients with newly diagnosed AML is intensive induction and consolidation chemotherapy, with or without targeted therapy, and HSCT for eligible patients.9

About Quizartinib

Quizartinib is an oral, highly potent type II FLT3 inhibitor that selectively targets FLT3-ITD mutations and has been specifically developed for patients with FLT3-ITD positive AML.6

Regulatory applications for quizartinib in newly diagnosed FLT3-ITD positive AML are currently under review in Europe, Japan and the U.S. based on the results of the QuANTUM-First trial. The FDA has granted Priority Review and Fast Track Designation to quizartinib for the treatment of adult patients with newly diagnosed AML that is FLT3-ITD positive in combination with standard cytarabine and anthracycline induction and cytarabine consolidation chemotherapy. Orphan Drug Designation has been granted to quizartinib for the treatment of AML in Europe, Japan and the U.S.

Quizartinib is approved for use in Japan for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed/refractory AML that is FLT3-ITD positive, as detected by an approved test. Quizartinib is an investigational medicine in all countries outside of Japan. The quizartinib clinical development program includes a phase 1/2 trial in pediatric and young adult patients with relapsed/refractory FLT3-ITD positive AML in Europe and North America and several phase 1/2 combination studies as part of a strategic collaboration with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
