Generational Group to sponsor amateur golf standout Anna Davis

Davis is a rising star among female amateur golfers and the agreement expands Generational’s brand sponsorships with key figures in the world of golf

DALLAS — (BUSINESS WIRE) — Generational Group, a leading investment banking firm for middle market, privately held businesses is pleased to announce that it has signed an NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) sponsorship agreement with amateur golfer Anna Davis.

Davis, a left-hander who is currently ranked 5th in the world women’s amateur golf rankings, exploded onto the national spotlight in April 2022 when, at 16 years old, she won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the youngest champion in the Tournament’s history. That win qualified Davis for three majors and four additional LPGA Tour events. Davis played extremely well in those additional events, making the cut five of seven times.

Davis and Generational Group share the same Core Values and commitment to excellence and hard work. The Generational team looks forward to her joining its other Brand Ambassadors, Jack Nicklaus, Justin Leonard and Mito Pereira.

Davis, from Spring Valley, California will have a busy 2023 summer schedule. This week, starting June 1 through June 4, she will play in the LPGA’s Mizuho America’s Open at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. This will mark the first time that Liberty National will host an LPGA event. Showcasing the stars of today along with the future of the game, the LPGA players will compete with 24 top-ranked junior girls, creating an unprecedented week of education and opportunity to inspire the next generation of LPGA Tour players.

Following her appearance at the Mizuho America’s Open, Davis will play in the U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach, California, from July 6 through July 9. It marks the first time in Pebble Beach history that the greatest players in the game will compete for the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open. Following the US Women’s Open, she will likely represent The United States in the Junior Ryder Cup and Junior Solheim Cup overseas.

Davis qualified for this year’s U.S. Women’s Open winning the 36 hole qualifier at the Valencia (California) Country Club with a 2-under total of 142. Davis, who represented the United States in the 2021 Junior Solheim and Junior Ryder Cups, won the Girls Junior Invitational at Sage Valley earlier this year as well as the Girls Junior Orange Bowl.

In November 2022, Davis announced that she had verbally committed to playing collegiate golf at Auburn University.

Ryan Binkley, President and CEO of Generational Group stated, “It is a real pleasure to be working with Anna and to watch her compete against the best in women’s golf this year. We look forward to seeing her game develop and are pleased to be associated with someone with her talent, dedication, and drive for excellence.”

Binkley added, “Generational is proud to invest in the future of women’s golf and we are thankful for the opportunity to team with Anna for her future development. We recognize that amateur golf is expensive, and we are privileged to share in Anna’s growth.”

AM Best announces winner of 2023 Student Challenge

OLDWICK, N.J. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — AM Best has announced that Hannah Youngblood from Florida State University is the winner of AM Best’s 2023 Student Challenge for her proposal to create a telemedicine platform for prescriptions that would address the issue of inadequate insurance coverage and high prescription costs.

The nationwide competition tasked risk management and insurance students with creating innovative solutions for insurance risks. In addition to Youngblood, six students from University of Wisconsin—Madison were finalists in the competition, which was open to undergraduate and graduate students, who were invited to submit as individuals or in teams of two.

With her telemedicine platform, Youngblood aims to save lives by improving access to prescriptions and reducing the 125,000 annual deaths due to poor prescription access. It would educate, inform and compare, providing a reliable, affordable and accessible solution for prescription management.

“Existing applications like Optum, CVS, Walgreens, GoodRx and Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus could be integrated into this platform to provide users with a one-stop solution for finding the best prescription prices,” Youngblood explained. “By consolidating these services, the platform would benefit the 43% of inadequately insured Americans and the 66% of Americans with prescriptions.”

Potential platform expansions could include prescription reminders, an informational drug database, a medical care provider database and partnerships for discounts on certain drugs.

AM Best’s 2023 Student Challenge is sponsored by the AM Best Foundation, which financially supports charitable organizations that encourage education and thought leadership in insurance and risk management.

“The innovative ideas proposed by these students show a bright future for the insurance industry,” said Lee McDonald, group vice president of AM Best – Information Services.

Mercer County ADRC opens applications for senior farmers’ market nutrition program

Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes announced that starting June 1, the Mercer County Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) will accept applications for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.

This program provides funding for the purchase of fresh, nutritious, unprepared foods like fruits, vegetables and herbs to low-income older adults.

“With foods provided from authorized farmers, the program not only helps increase the nutritional health of our communities, but also increases the demand for locally grown produce and boosts the income of farmers who produce and sell locally grown products,” Mr. Hughes said.

To qualify for this program, you must be able to verify that:

• You are 60 years of age or older
• You live in Mercer County
• Your income does not exceed $26,973 per year ($2,248 a month) if you are a single person or $36,482 per year ($3,041 a month) if you are a couple

Those eligible will receive $50 to spend for use at participating vendors at area farmers markets. Instead of paper vouchers that were distributed in previous years, older adults will now be assigned a QR code that will be easily accessible from their smartphones. Simply show the code (on a digital device or printed on paper from the Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection) to the farm market vendor, who will scan it – that’s how easy the new QR codes are to use.

Funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. When you receive your QR code, you also will get a listing of participating markets and vendors. If you are taking a trip to a market, make sure to call ahead, as market days may change due to weather and produce availability.

If you, a family member or friend could benefit from this program, please call the Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection at 609-989-6661. For more information, or to apply, you may also email adrc@mercercounty.org, or kturek@mercercounty.org.

The Mercer County Office on Aging/Aging & Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) is the federally designated agency responsible for the assessment, development, and funding distribution of programs/services for those 60 years of age or older in Mercer County.

Why business leaders should focus on the culture of connection

With graduation and wedding season beginning to pick up, knowing how to give a memorable and meaningful toast is essential. Deciding which stories to tell, knowing your audience, and honoring those whose big day it is are all pieces to a great speech.

Crafting a notable toast is not an easy task for even the most seasoned storytellers, which is something that storytelling expert Karen Eber knows well.

“Toasts are the moments in wedding and graduation celebrations that make your heart swell and a lump form in your throat. But how do you give a heartfelt and memorable toast that honors those being celebrated? It’s tempting to ask ChatGPT or AI to write one for you to read word-for-word—especially if you aren’t comfortable speaking in front of others. But they would be monologues lacking the secret ingredient that gives everyone the warm fuzzies: stories.”

LiDestri Foods recalls 24-ounce jars of Wegman’s Italian Classics Diavolo pasta sauce

LiDestri Foods has been recalling 24-ounce jars of Wegman’s Italian Classics Diavolo pasta sauce, because it may contain undeclared fish (anchovy).

Chris Rivers: Satellite now opens at Friedrichs Pontone in NYC

Friedrichs Pontone art gallery in New York City is thrilled to present Satellite, a solo exhibition of works by British artist Chris Rivers, featuring a mesmerizing selection of his otherworldly, stellar skyscapes. The display opens May 18 until June 18.
Rivers’ large-scale paintings are inspired by the natural world and his fascination with the cosmos. His works capture the beauty and majesty of the sky, from the swirling clouds to the shimmering stars. These paintings are not simply depictions of the natural world, but rather a reflection of Rivers’ own emotional response to it. Rendered in a sumptuous palette of rich color and a welter of expressive, gestural handling that is at once abstract and representational, Rivers conveys the awe-inspiring power of nature and the limitless potential of the universe.

Born in 1983 in Manchester, England, Chris Rivers began his artistic journey in 2014. As a self-taught painter, Rivers brings a fresh perspective to the art world. Formerly a professional drummer for UK rock band Heaven’s Basement, his work is rooted in his background as a musician, which he infuses into his art through the use of rhythm and movement, treating the canvas as a drum. Every painting maintains an energetic, almost frenzied tempo, tempered by subtle manipulations of technique and pace that captivate and enchant the viewer with their strange and beautiful ambience.

His works are a testament to his dedication to exploring and exploiting the pictorial possibilities generated by the physicality of his painting process. Rivers creates sumptuous, surrealistic, fantastical scenes of otherworldly, stellar landscapes with saturated washes of vibrant color that develop into lowering skyscapes, clots, and accretions of impasto that turn into mountain ranges, scattered and scumbled paint fields tha become the detritus of volcanic explosions, and swirling billows of translucent medium that suggest protean
clouds of gas. The contrast of light and dark elements presents a dichotomy that invites the viewer to explore the interplay between opposing forces, evoking at once a sense of innocence and treachery, harmony and dissonance, serenity and turbulence, order and chaos.
He carefully inserts small figures, often astronauts and cherubs, into his galactic turmoil to establish a sense of innocence and isolation, struggle and survival. Indistinguishable at first glance, the figures are subsumed in fiery, elemental vortices of turbulent paint, carried through time and space, desperate voyagers in an alien world. They exist on the edge of the sublime, in awe of the terrifying universe surrounding them. Rivers seems keen to emphasize human vulnerability and at the same time hail the pioneering spirit, inviting the viewer on a fantastic voyage, in anticipation of being lost and found in space.

Through his alchemical and self-described “alternative” process, Rivers transforms mundane material into visionary images. Satellite showcases Rivers’ mastery of the language of painterly abstraction to create pictures of notional and imaginary places and is a testament to Rivers’ artistry and passion for exploring the beauty and wonder of the cosmos, the complexities and contradictions of the human experience, and the
infinite possibilities of the universe.
